For the fourth year in a row, Twilio Segment’s 2023 Customer Data Platform (CDP) Report provides insight into how businesses around the world are collecting and using consumer data. This year’s report indicates that companies intend to do more with this data than ever before.

Businesses are consolidating tech to improve operational efficiency

One of the key findings from the report is that “organizations are streamlining their tech stacks to eliminate ineffective or redundant tools.” This is one of several ways that businesses are prioritizing operational efficiency this year.

The decision to streamline comes from a recognition that some tools are redundant and/or unhelpful. In fact, Twilio Segment’s 2022 Growth Report found that 57% of respondents believed their company was spending money on tools they don’t need. Additionally, 86% of respondents wanted tech tools that allow for more control and flexibility with customer communications.

In response, teams are now “prioritizing products that fulfill more than one use case and are flexible enough to help them grow into the future,” according to the CDP Report.

Glances can consolidate ineffective or redundant apps

Glances offers an effective way to streamline your tech stack. With Glances, your team can search all your business apps at once, effectively eliminating tab switching between apps. Plus, Glances Actions allows for multitasking across apps without navigating away from your preferred platform.

Consumers expect better management of their personal data

Another important takeaway from the CDP Report is the need for companies to focus on data privacy and security. Newsworthy data breaches in recent years have increased awareness of security risks and prompted new regulations in 2022. Many tech businesses have responded by launching anti-tracking tools, providing clearer information about what data their apps collect, and issuing updated privacy restrictions that limit how user data can be stored and used.

“If anything, one trend has become extremely clear: Consumers are asking for more transparency and respect for their personal data,” the report says.

Glances securely connects all of your apps

Glances is ahead of this trend because it is not a traditional integration that moves data back and forth; it does not store or sync user data. In addition, Glances allows users to view key data without giving them access to the main platform account.

For example, your non-accounting team members can see QuickBooks accounting data even if they don’t have access to the QuickBooks account. In other words, your accounting data remains safeguarded while team members still get the visibility and functionality they need (such as creating new QuickBooks invoices directly within Glances).
